Wedding & Family Photography

Some wedding venues simply have that feeling the moment you arrive.. and Tithe Barn is absolutely one of them.

Set within the Bolton Abbey Estate in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, this incredible barn blends character with modern elegance. From the towering oak beams and candlelit chandeliers to the sweeping countryside views overlooking the priory ruins, every corner of this venue feels made for unforgettable weddings.

For Gabby & Dec, it was the perfect setting for a day that felt relaxed, emotional, and full of joy from beginning to end.

Morning Preparations at the Devonshire Arms

The morning was spent at the nearby hotel, Devonshire Arms. The atmosphere was calm, and full of anticipation as everyone got ready surrounded by the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. One thing to note about The Tithe Barn, is that there is no on-site accommodation, but luckily it is surrounded by so many beautiful hotels, inns and BnB’s.

A Ceremony Filled With Emotion

The ceremony space inside The Tithe Barn is truly stunning. The huge wooden beams, warm stone floors, fairy lights, and candlelight create such a gorgeous atmosphere despite the barn’s incredible size.

As Gabby and her Mum walked down the aisle, you could feel the emotion across the entire room. There were tears, huge smiles, and so many beautiful reactions from family and friends throughout the ceremony.

The Perfect Confetti Moment

As Gabby & Dec walked through a tunnel of real petals, everyone cheered. These are always some of my favourite moments to photograph because nothing is staged it’s pure happiness, and celebration.

A quick tip for couples getting married here: fresh petals are the only confetti you’re allowed to use. This photographs incredibly well against the stone textures and natural surroundings.

Portraits – Just The Two of You

One of the biggest reasons couples fall in love with The Tithe Barn is the scenery.

Whether you’re wanting to use the grounds of Bolton Abbey, or just utilise the beautiful surrounding of the Tithe Barn itself, you’re spoilt for choice with backdrop opportunities. From the gorgeous shutter doors, Yorkshire stone walls, rolling fields and the patio onlooking the Abbey at the Tithe, to the Priory, the stepping stones on the river, the bridges and more.

As the evening light softened, we snuck away for a few quiet portraits together just over the cattle grid on the entrance to the Barn. Golden hour at Tithe Barn is seriously impressive. Warm sunlight casts over the fields, soft skies, and the most incredible backdrop for natural, relaxed photographs.

The Celebration Inside the Barn

As day turned into night, the atmosphere inside The Tithe Barn transforms.

The candles glowed against the beams, guests filled the dance floor, and the disco ball begins to spin. It’s one of those venues that feels equally beautiful during every part of the wedding day.

The open kitchen and relaxed dining experience always become such a memorable part of the day for guests. Cripps and co venues always deliver such impressive food. From 3 course served options, to family style serve yourself options. It’s always delicious.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at The Tithe Barn

Every wedding at The Tithe Barn feels unique, but the atmosphere is always the same: relaxed, emotional, and full of genuine moments.

It’s a venue that gives couples the perfect balance of epic scenery and intimate atmosphere, and from a photographer’s perspective, it’s an absolute dream to work in.

For Gabby & Dec, it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting to celebrate with the people they love most.

Whether it’s the excitement of a wedding day, those tiny newborn details that change far too quickly, or the beautifully chaotic joy of family life, my approach is always the same — relaxed, natural and focused on connection.
